The Sect of Revolutionaries (Greek: Σέχτα των Επαναστατών, Sechta ton Epanastaton) is a Greek paramilitary group. They first became known in February 2009 with a threat to kill Greek police officers at the Police-station in Korydallos.[1] There was also a shooting on February 17, 2009 at the headquarters of Alter TV linked to the Sect of Revolutionaries, which caused no injuries.[2][3]
The Greek police categorize the group as very dangerous in conjunction with "all threatenings follows doings"
In June 2009, they assassinated an anti-terrorist police officer, following the 2008 riots. After the attack, the group released a statement in which they warned, "Journalists, this time we came to your door, but next time you will find us in your homes."[4] The group has also been implicated in the July 2010 assassination of investigative journalist Sokratis Giolias.[5]
